Religious Music Week

The Religious Music Week, celebrated in the city of Cuenca, has been declared a Festivity of International Interest for Tourists. It is the fourth oldest music festival in Spain , going back to 1962, with the participation of internationally renowned orchestras, choirs and performers who play a number of compositions of sacred music.

This week coincides with the celebration of the Easter Week of Cuenca, the festivity of Cuenca par excellence that is impressive due to its great beauty.

It is the fourth oldest music festival in Spain , going back to 1962, with the participation of internationally renowned orchestras, choirs and performers who play a number of compositions of sacred music.

The Religious Music Week of Cuenca aims to renew the traditional repertory , offering a wide range of world premieres, historical recoveries and infrequent works, as well as important works of the sacred repertory of all times that must necessarily be performed at a religious festival such as the one celebrated in Cuenca.

The new and the old go hand in hand to become the essential focal points of a program that is rich and varied in musical terms and which is performed throughout twenty-two concerts, held in the traditional venues of the festival, the Theatre-Auditorium, the Cathedral, the Church of San Miguel, the Church of la Merced, the Church of Arcas, the Church of Santa Cruz, the Chapel of the Hospital de Santiago, the Old Convent of the Carmelitas (the see of the Antonio Pérez Foundation), the Church of the Monastery de la Concepción Francisca (Puerta de Valencia), the Convent of the Religiosas Justinianas de San Pedro (Petras); and in some new venues that are incorporated each year.
