- Other data
- There are many similarities between the 'bozainas’ of Chinchilla de Montearagón and this one appearing in the town of Tobarra during the procession on holy Thursday, popularly known as the 'Carrico’ [little cart] of San Juan.
- How to get there
- Road transport
The town of Tobarra is invaded by the overwhelming sound of drums from three pm on the Wednesday before Holy Thursday, lasting without interruption until 12 midnight on Easter Sunday. Unlike their neighbours in Hellín, in Tobarra drums are played not only during the processions, but also at certain times of the day.
On the morning of Good Friday, Tobarra features a magnificent happening: the Blessing of Jesus the Nazarene. Surrounded in the scent of thyme and similar plants, tens of thousands of people gather at the Calvary to receive the blessing of an articulate Christ, while in the distance one can hear the significant musical notes of Mektub, the sublime high point of the Easter Week. After this emotional event, the drums, which have been silent, start rolling noisily.
