Alpera Cave Paintings
The cave paintings found in the la Vieja Cave in the municipality of Alpera are declared a Historic Artistic Monument and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. They are an example of Levantine Cave Art.

The so-called la Vieja Cave preserves a section of wall of almost 10 metres, with predominantly human figures, more than 170 painted images: 33 archers, 13 human figures and 3 women, as well as bows, arrows, etc.
Among the painted fauna it is worth mentioning: 15 deer, 10 goats, 5 bulls, 6 carnivores and various quadrupeds of indeterminate species.
The la Vieja Cave also preserves a group of 37 abstract motifs, an expression of the belief system of Neolithic producers, and example of Schematic Art, which has been dated at between 7,000 and 3,500 years old.
