The Convent of Santo Domingo, which appears to have been founded in the 14th century, is located on the outskirts of the historic walled city. Its construction can be fixed at around the end of this century.
Following its seizure, the building suffered various fates, while the church remained open for worship.
The temple is a good example of the Mudejar and consists of three naves separated by pointed arches supported on simple square based pillars. The central nave is covered with rich “par y nudillo” coffering with interlaced and mozárabe decoration, and ostentatious coats of arms of the Dominican order of Castilla and León,
The Main Chapel and that contiguous to the nave by the pulpit, are square with vaulted crosspieces.
The wide convent cloister, is in two parts, the lower part with late 14th century pointed brick arches, and the upper part with 15th century low arches.
Attached to the convent church on the Gospel side, is the baroque Capilla del Rosario (Rosario Chapel), with a richly decorated rococo lady chapel covered with a Levantine profile dome on tambour. The floor is of Valencian tiles.
