The convent was occupied by the Carmelitas Descalzas in 1608, and underwent two renovations over the course of the 17th century: in 1624, under the charge of the Master Mason Juan de Celaya, and in 1651 under the master carpenter Pedro García and the master builder Antonio Velasco.
It has a extended polygonal floor plan, that is adapted to the topography, and a well balanced classic facade, with a doorway in the main body, according to the fashion of the early Baroque; the different parts of the building are an essential part of the Huécar Gorge cornice.
The building also houses the Antonio Pérez Foundation museum.

- It is only possible to visit the exterior of the monument. The interior is occupied by the museum.
