Nerpio Cave Paintings
The collection of shelters with cave paintings in Nerpio Cultural Parkhas been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and makes up 70% of the cave paintings in Castilla-La Mancha.

In Nerpio nature hollowed great sections of the Jurassic limestone, forming tunnels filled with cavities and shelters where a magnificent selection of examples of the creative capacity of prehistoric man can be seen.
From the simple shelters found, the most important are the Torcal de las Bojadillas and the Solana de las Covachas.
The earliest archaeological remains found in Nerpio Cultural Park date from the Mesolithic period.
The main subject of these cave paintings is man, who appears in various instances as the hunter, warrior , gatherer and agriculturalist; woman appears as dancer or gatherer. The animal species depicted most are goats, deer, bovines and equines.
