The Museum of Spanish Abstract Art in Cuenca contains a permanent exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Spanish artists of the abstract generation of the ’50s and '60s (Millares, Tápies, Sempere, Torner, Rueda, Zóbel, Saura, to name a few of the thirty or so names), as well as other artists from the '80s and '90s.

How to get there: Road transport

The Museum of Spanish Abstract Art is located in the Casas Colgadas (Hanging Houses), a medieval building from the end of the 15th century in the city of Cuenca.

The works of abstract art from part of a collection begun by the Juan March Foundation at the beginning of the seventies, which received a decisive impetus in 1980, when Fernando Zóbel, creator of the Museum of Abstract Art donated his collection of works to the Juan March Foundation.

The Museum of Spanish Abstract Art, in Cuenca, has been awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts (1980), the European Council Prize for the European Museum of the Year (1981), the Castilla-La Mancha Gold Medal (1991) and the “Tourism 1997” Prize also awarded by Castilla-La Mancha.
