Jumilla Wine
Type of Denomination of Origin
Jumilla.
Region
Southeast of Albacete.

The Jumilla Guarantee of Origin includes a large district in the north of the Murcia region and part of the province of Albacete in the southeast of Spain. It is a tough region, where vines extend across a plateau surrounded by mountains.

Grapevines have been the main crop in the area since ancestral times, and here the noble Monastrell variety finds the perfect habitat for its growth. Thecretaceous soil, the hard climate (with temperatures of up to 41 degrees centigrade in summer and as low as 5 degrees below zero in winter), the lack of rain (an average of 300 litres per square metre per year)... all help the grapes to develop their characteristics of colour and taste to the full.

The Regulating Council is committed to overseeing the quality and authenticity of wines from Jumilla, as well as to spreading awareness of these wines.
