Uclés Wine

The project of creating a different type of guarantee of origin began in 2003 with the initiative of 8 vineyards from Castile La Mancha that, throughout history have proven the potential of this vine growing area on the South Plateau, to the east of the province of Cuenca and to the north-east of the province of Toledo and its enormous ability to create high quality wines.

Uclés Wine
Type of Denomination of Origin
Uclés.

The area has a range of heights from between 500 and 800 m. in the mid-west to between 600 and 1200m. in the mid-east, both parts separated by the Altomira mountain range.

It occupies an area of 175,000 hectares, although only 1,500 have vines suitable to yield Ucles wines.

It becomes obvious, just by passing through the region, that the production area mainly has connotations of an environment, of a different relief, climate, and soil than of the typical producing regions of La Mancha. Mainly based on the uniformity of the relief, the variability and depth of the soil and some climatic conditions that do not match the area south of the plateau.
