Valdepeñas Wine

Wine and Valdepeñas have been associated since time immemorial. Although the earliest information on the Iberian Peninsular tells of more than 3,000 years of existence, within the district of Valdepeñas it is made palpable from the remains of grape seeds that were found in the Iberian site “Cerro de las Cabezas”, which was occupied during the VII and IV Centuries B.C.

The variety of grapes determines the principal characteristics of the wine, its own stamp, which in its day was used to establish the characteristics and qualities of the wines of the area. In Spain there may currently be around 150 varieties of grape in industrial crops for wine making.

The soil, climate, variety, height..., give the varieties grown under the Valdepeñas D.O. some singular characteristics that are shown by the strong personality of the wines.
