La Roda

La Roda has traditionally been a halfway point; it is located on the Motorway that connects Madrid with the Spanish Levant, close to the provincial capital of Albacete. Its name is derived from “robda”, a medieval militia that used to guard the borders and paths around the castles. This was the name given to the old castle located in the place where today we can find the parochial church and where the “arrobdas”, the militia’s debt collectors, took refuge.
