In Nerpio's geography Nature has drilled holes through a large part of the Jurassic limestone creating gullies, rocky areas full of nooks and crannies, cavities and rocky shelters where a magnificent example of Prehistoric Man's creative capacity can be seen.

Nerpio is replete with abundant rock paintings in caves that have been declared World Heritage Sites. The most important such sites are Torcal de las Bojadillas and Solana de las Covachas.
