On the hill known as Alacranejo rise up the imposing, proud and evocative ruins of the Sacred Convent of Calatrava la Nueva, declared a National Monument. Its origins go back to Calatrava la Vieja, which was abandoned because it was unhealthy, and at the time the construction of the Sacred Convent began alongside the natural passageway towards Andalusia and it became the See of the Order of Calatrava.

Opposite this castle-convent on another twin hill there are the ruins of the Castle of Salvatierra, in the lands of Calzada de Calatrava.

Within the town we can see the Palace of Clavería from the 16th century and belonging to the clavero, the custodian of the keys of the Convent of Calatrava.

Other religious constructions are the Church of San Jorge Mártir and the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Valle.
