Road transport

To the north of the municipal limits, we find the Calatrava la Vieja Castle, where the impressive ruins of a fortified city are located. This fortress, of great strategic value, is located at an important crossroads, where we find the main road between Toledo and Cordoba, a road that linked Merida with Zaragoza and the Atlantic with the Levant. In the Islamic period, this was the most important town between Toledo and Córdoba. After it became a Christian town, it became the headquarters of the first Spanish military order, the Order of Calatrava (1158).

It is currently part of the Alarcos and Calatrava la Vieja Archaeology Park, in the network of Archaeology Parks belonging to the Castilla-La Mancha regional government.

Its Parish Church is a gothic building with Renaissance elements, it has a painting from the 16th century and an important image of Santa María de los Mártires in polychromed marble from the 13th century.
