The tradition of the Juego de las Tacillas, started in the era of Alfonso XII. This is a game of chance with a great degree of liturgy and ceremony attached, and it is only placed during the festivities to honour the patron saint, the Cristo de Vera Cruz, that start on September 13 each year.
Without doubt the most important piece of architecture in Cózar is the San Vicente Mártir Parish Church, that is really huge for a village the size of Cózar. It was declared a Historical-Artistic Monument, it was built in the 16th century and it is one of the best churches in the county.
