Just 15km from Fuente el Fresno is the Tablas de Daimiel National Park, the smallest National Park in Spain but also the largest great fen-sedge wetlands in Western Europe. It is the last representative of a typical ecosystem found in La Mancha known as tablas fluviales (“river tables”).

These are made up of a series of small pools between earthy plateaus which can exist thanks to a balance between surface rivers and underground watercourses. Over 250 water bird species can be found in this ecosystem.

The name Fuente el Fresno (which means “The Fresno Source”) comes from a hillside spring on the old Roman road between Toleda and Cordoba. Dwellings have been built here for an indefinite amount of time. Places of interest include the 17th-century Parish Church of Santa Quiteria (St. Quiteria). It was declared a Historical and Artistic Monument in 1991.

Also worthy of mention is the Chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Fe (Our Lady of the Faith), in which visitors will find statues of the Virgen de la Fe (Virgin of the Faith), San Isidro (St. Isidore), the Virgen de Fátima (Virgin of Fatima) and the statue of Santa Lucia (St. Lucy), and finally the Chapel of San Cristóbal (St. Christopher).

The path from Los Yébenes to Fuente el Fresno crosses the remains of the Fuentesecas Roman aqueduct. We can also see a dolmen called the "Cocinilla del Cura" (the Priest’s Stove), as well as other nature spots.
