Cabañeros National Park is one of the largest and most well-preserved Mediterranean forest zones in the world. It is one of the most valuable protected areas in the Mountains of Toledo and a refuge for big birds of prey, black storks, eagles, vultures and many other endangered species. Its landscape consists of vast pastures with rich seasonal grazing areas, the mountain ranges and massifs shelter a large variety of birds and mammals.

Its magnificent natural environment invites one to engage in any number of nature activities.

Horcajo de los Montes' fame comes from its handmade carpets, crafted in the loom. Carpets have been produced for years and adorn such buildings as the Royal Theatre, the Royal Palace, or the Paradores de Turismo (luxury state-run hotels).

It is among the area towns that have best prepared for the flow of tourists generated by the Cabañeros National Park, with hotels, Country House Lodges, etc.
