The town’s origins go back to the days of the reconquest of Spain from the Moors by the Christians, sheltered by what was the Castle of La Solana.

The Plaza Mayor [main square] of La Solana is very interesting in artistic terms, with two very distinct zones both in terms of their construction and their period. On the one hand, the east side and the 16th century Town Hall and, on the other hand, the west and north sides, with two storeys of asymmetric openings leading to porches with semicircular arches>
The Plaza Mayor features the Church of Santa Catalina, from the 15th and 16th centuries, being the most majestic church in the province. In La Solana we can also visit the old convent which is now the Church of the Trinitarios, built in the baroque style with classic trends and located in the neighbourhood known as El Santo, as well as an excellent artistic building, the Hermitage of San Sebastían, declared a National Monument in 1982 and built in the 14th century early gothic style.

The streets of La Solana feature a number of stately houses, for instance the Palace of the Condes Casa Valiente.
