Mota del Cuervo
Situated in the south-western corner of the province of Cuenca, stretching the length of a hill slope that reaches into the plain, we find the Santiago worship place Mota del Cuervo, an excellent example of the urban architecture in the county, in spite of industrial and commercial progress in recent years, whose most attractive and unique element is the group of Windmills on the hilltop. Mota del Cuervo is the “Balcony of the Mancha” (a tourist geography denomination it adopted in 1967), where windmills overlook the extensive horizon.

Location
Situated in the southwest corner of the province, 113km away from the capital. A number of local roads cross the village, as well as two national roads, the Cuenca to Álcazar de San Juan road and the Ocaña to Albacete road.

The town has an interesting group of noble houses, where we can highlight large doors, rails and the coats of arms. The axis formed by the Cervantes and Town Hall squares offers an interesting architectural synthesis. Among the public buildings, the following outstand due to their uniqueness: the old Hospital de Pobres (Pauper's Hospital) (15th – 17th centuries), the Iglesia del Santo (Saint’s Church) and the San Miguel Arcángel Parish Church, the sites called Tercia and Pozo de las Nieves, awarded the declaration of Cultural Interest Site, the Pósito and the neighbourhood called “Barrio de las Cantarerías”.
The set of Windmills bordering the town and overlooking it from the mountains is majestic. The first Sunday of the month there is a traditional milling at the mill called “El Gigante” (The Giant).
It also has breathtaking landscapes such as the Laguna de Manjavacas (Lagoon), awarded the declaration of Birdlife Special Protection Area.
