This is a unique village in Cuenca, that was firstly a small group of rural houses that were separate from another. The style of the village was similar to that of Galician parishes in northwest Spain or the ”cortijos” (rural haciendas) in the south. Each rural house had a name, which was sometimes related with the environment, and other times it was the name of the family that inhabited the place.

The rural houses are called: La Cueva, El Perchel, El Molino, Los Demetrios, Los Eustaquios, El Collado, El Tío Miguelete, Las Chorretas, Gregorete, El Puntal and Los Perales.

The capital of the municipality is “La Cueva” (The Cave) and its name was given because it is literally under a huge layer of rock that is the source of a natural grotto that is several kilometres deep.

In 1940, a shared church was built for all the rural houses, and it is located in the centre of the countryside.

Inside the borders of this municipality, we find a landscape of great quality, sites of a great natural value, pine tree groves, waterfalls and, above all, the source of the River Cuervo, an important Karst stone formation where water flows over a curtain of rock covered by moss. After a few waterfalls, the water finishes its journey at the source of the river.
