Atienza
Discover this village awarded the title of Historical Artistic Site of the province of Guadalajara, retaking the steps of the Cid, tracing the footprints of the Romanic, breathing in nature, discovering traditional architecture and enjoying good food.

Location
Situated in the western foothills of the Ayllón Range, to the north of the province of Guadalajara that it is now part of, the village of Atienza can be accessed from the four cardinal points. It is halfway between the cities of Soria and Guadalajara.

This is a beautiful example of a Medieval City, which preserves testimonials with its monuments from different epochs and it picturesque corners. Its religious Romanic architecture is to be highlighted.
In addition, this town is famed for the celebration of the traditional Caballada horse festival, which has been held for over 800 years and has been classified as a Festivity of National Tourist Interest.
Another one of the attractions of Atienza and its surroundings is gastronomy. Like other areas in Castilla-La Mancha, its roast (lamb or goat) is fit for a King, and the roasts from this area deserve a well-earned reputation. In addition, a variety of other culinary delicacies are also on offer.

- Surprisingly, the village of Atienza has three magnificent museums located in its three churches. The church of Santa María del Rey with its splendid Romanic portico, the Castle where magnificent views can be enjoyed, and the Trinity Museum, the Museum of Saint Gil and the Museum of Saint Batholomew, which is located next to a 2nd-century Roman fountain and the door of the Exit, one of the accesses to the second row of the village's walls.
