This Historical Artistic Site, also known as the Avila in Alcarria is noted precisely for its full walls (like the town of Ávila, also famous for its walls), encircling the village, as well as the fortress to one side. In addition to the numerous red sandstone manor houses, with abundant sgraffito decorating its walls, we find other landmarks such as the San Juan Parochial Church, with a simple Romanic front, or the town square with a historical pillory, that has been rebuilt. When one strolls through its streets, one feels a dignified and mature rural environment. Nearby we find the village of Pozancos, with its Romanic church and Ures, with an interesting design workshop.
- Special trips in Palazuelos
- This village is distinguished location in the north of the Province of Guadalajara, owing its special significance to The Mendozas who were the landlords of this small but relevant town. The settlement acquired special importance due to its impressive fortress, the Palazuelos Castle, built in the mid-15th century by the Marquis of Santillana and his son, Pedro Hurtado de Mendoza.
