Hormigos
Hormigos is a small, charming village located in the province of Toledo, close to the village of Maqueda, which is famous for its castle. Situated in the Torrijos County, Hormigos welcomes visitors with its unique natural surroundings, that owe most of their beauty to the area crossed by the River Alberche, an effluent of the River Tajo.

Location
Reaching Hormigos is very easy: Take Exit 74 on the Madrid to Extremadura highway: Maqueda-Toledo-Avila. Take the N-403 (Toledo to Ávila) and, before reaching Escalona, take the TO-9311 that leads to Hormigos.

There are numerous camp sites in the surroundings and also picnic sites where one can enjoy nature and greenery areas surrounding the River Alberche along its course through the village on its way to the River Tajo delta.
The San Bartolomé Parish Church, the houses and dwellings in the “Héroes del Alcázar” Street and the “Calle Mayor”, the Casa del Curato (Curate’s House), the Caño (Fountain)... are among the quaint sites and monuments that Hormigos proudly displays.
Its festivities to honour Saint Bartholomew and the Virgen de la Higuera (Virgin of the Fig Tree), along with the dish called cortadillos de aceite (“oily cakes”) and mantecados (crumble cakes), are not to be missed.
