How to get there
Road transport

Strolling through Torrijos involves viewing stately civil buildings, such as the Palace of Peter I “The Cruel”, as well as religious buildings such as the Collegiate Church or the Chapel of “Cristo de la Sangre”.

Although these buildings are well worth visiting, it is also important to remind you here that Torrijos has its place in history thanks to being visited and recorded for posterity in the universal literary work of the Lazarillo, an except of which is below: "I had hardly stopped speaking when the poor blind man threw himself at me like a goat, and thrust all his strength in my direction, taking a step back to surge forward with greater force. He then hit his head against the post, which resounded as if it had been struck by a mighty pumpkin. He fell back, half dead and stooping. “You mean... You smelled the sausage and not the post? Hey! Hey! , I exclaimed. And I left him with those who had gone to succour him, I took to the village gate hastily on foot and, before the night fell, I found myself in Torrijos. I never found out what God made of him, nor did I dare find out." Treaty I.
And, thus, arriving from the lands of Ávila, Lazarillo travels through Almorox, Escalona, and the lands of Maqueda and Torrijos, on his journey to the "splendorous" city of Toledo.
