Arriving at Urda is finding a village with all the essential features of La Mancha. Its gastronomy includes dishes such as: “migas” (breadcrumbs), “pote de bacalao” (cod stew), “pisto de calabacín” (courgette ratatouille), as well as the village’s people and houses: quiet streets that lead to the San Juan Bautista Parish Church, and the Town Council, the focus of local life.
Without doubt, in addition to its landscape halfway between La Mancha and the mountains, as it is located between the counties of La Mancha and the Toledo Mountains, one of the most appealing factors about Urda is its Christ and the Museum devoted to Don Gregorio Malagón.
On September 28, the festival dedicated to the patron saint Santísimo Cristo de la Vera Cruz is held. Hundreds of pilgrims attend celebrations at the hermitage every year, to ask the "Urdetana" Virgin for forgiveness. The Gregorio Malagón Museum houses the paintings of this great artist 20th century artist from Castilla-La Mancha.
