Yepes

Visiting Yepes is like travelling in time to a walled village that protects its heritage and proudly shows it to visitors. Entering its small, but monumental historical centre is like going back in time to a breathtaking past: to name an event, the betrothals of the Catholic Monarchs were signed within its walls. Other historical figures are also linked to this municipality in the Mesa de Ocaña county. Are you interested in finding out more?

How to get there
Road transport

Yepes is an ideal village for a short break. It is close to Madrid and Toledo and very close to the A-4 Main Road and its exit to Ocaña. Yepes will surprise you if you have not been there yet. It was declared a Historical Artistic Site. This village was of great importance in the past and, within its walls, still preserved in some stretches, we find important monuments and Palace Houses that can still be enjoyed today.
In this peaceful and tranquil environment, you will find the "San Benito Abad" Collegiate Church, which is monumental and full of energy, a work of Covarrubias, its main square, hospitals, convents, fountains, and white houses with white-washed walls and balconies with imposing grillwork.
Its Corpus Christi Festivities and the days devoted to Calderón de la Barca, will help you to imagine what the Spanish Golden Age (15th – 17th centuries) must have been like in Yepes. A visit to the nearby village of Ocaña could be the perfect way to round off a trip to Yepes.

Special trips in Yepes
Don’t miss out on a trip to Yepes. The weekend before the Corpus Christi, when Yepes celebrates its Calderón festival, the whole village is festooned with colourful decor and its monumental streets are full of life.
